Sacred sounds

What is a Sacred Sound?

Sound is the first instrument of healing. We call it “sacred” as a divine gift bestowed on man who uses its potential often unconsciously. It is harmony, serenity and inner peace.

According to Vedic tradition, the first sound, the primordial sound, the creator of the Creation of the Universe, is “Om”. This sacred syllable is not translatable; its power lies in the sound vibrations that are given off when chanting or reciting this mantra.

Different sounds are generated by instruments that we use in our individual treatments and Sound Baths. Each instrument has a history, a precise frequencies and notes that, used with knowledge, insight and passion, work on body mind and spirit.

What instruments do we use for our Vibrational Sound Treatments and Baths?

Several tools are used for our Individual Treatments, Ceremony and Vibrational Sound Baths. These are true sensory therapies that give deep well-being to the body and mind. Every year we discover, learn and experiment with new ones. Those are part of us.

The Voice
The Voice is the first sound we hear when we are in the mother’s womb. It is the first instrument that allows us to communicate after birth through wailing. It produces harmonious vibrations and melodies. Chanting in fact is pure, simple but powerful tool capable of soothing ailments, destroying inner blocks. It changes thinking from negative to positive, summoning strong natural energies that multiply waves of form and enhance the therapeutic state. This was taught by our ancestors and the many ancient cultures that still live and hand down this medicine.
Tibetan Bells
Tibetan Bells vibrate and produce special frequencies that balance the body altered by stress and heavy emotions.
The vibrations generate harmonic sound which brings well-being to the body, spirit and mind. Vibrations and sound produce a massage that acts deeply, loosening and freeing the person receiving it from energy blockages. The Tibetan bell is an ancient musical instrument originating in the pre-Buddhist Bön shamanic culture.
According to tradition, they are composed of an alloy comprising seven metals, each connected to a planet, but such an alloy can include up to 12 metals. The bells can be used for massage, or individual sound treatment, because it uses sound and vibrations that penetrate deep enough to work on organs, inflammation, the lymphatic system and more.
In group sound bathing, bells, along with the gong, are indispensable and primary tools.
In meditation sessions they generate relaxation and promote recollection.
Gongs
Gongs are ancient musical instruments that have been used since ancient times, tracing their roots back to the Bronze Age around 3500 BC.
The Gong consists of a large metal plate of various sizes, which is held suspended on a special wooden stand, and it is struck with the knocker composed of a wooden stick, usually with a felt end.
The acoustic effect produced by the gong is ideal for meditation sessions, but also for sound therapy as it relieves stress, emotional blocks and tension, producing calm and relaxation. Gongs are more than just musical instruments. They are generators of well-being.
Shamanic Drums
Shamanic Drums are powerful ancestral instruments related to the earth element. The Drum is composed of a circular wooden frame and a membrane of animal origin (goat, horse or other animal skin), but some drums are also constructed of beautifully crafted synthetic membranes. The sound is produced by percussion given by a stick with a head also made of leather or fabric.
The Shamanic Drum, through a sequence of repeated strokes, stimulates a semi trance or allows to enter a dreamlike state. With this function it is employed in Shamanism classes and during Trance Dance sessions.
It is also used in therapy using sound. The vibrations that the drum produces enter deeply by promoting healing and relaxation of mind and body.
The Didgeridoo
The Didgeridoo is a natural musical instrument formed from a fallen branch hollowed out by termites. It is the sacred instrument of Australian Aborigines, used in sacred ceremonies and daily life.
It has a deep sound with the presence of harmonics and powerful vibrations, making it also suitable for therapeutic-ritual purposes.
The Handpan
The Handpan, or harmonic drums, with a lenticular shape that produce a particularly melodious and relaxing sound.
In addition, in the Vibrational Sound Bath we also use ancestral instruments such as:
Rain sticks, used anciently in rituals to invoke rain;
Oceanic drums, used to invoke the elements water and air;
The sound sticks, aerophonic instruments from India;
The Kalimba, a plucked idiophone of African origin;
The Shruti Box, (o Shruti box) an Indian instrument that works with a bellows system;
The rattles, of shamanic origin.
